Fluppies News ("REFRESH" THE PAGE IF THE PHOTO'S
DON'T SHOW)
Woman's Day Magazine - June 16, 2003 - "Your Pet" - Extract from Canine Cover Ups Let your dog make a fashion statement while staying warm this winter. Most dogs, if they lived in the wild, would grow a very thick coat in winter to adapt to the climate. But because they often eat, sleep and hang about inside, dogs moult more regularly and essentially live in an articificial summer. We also keep lots of exotic breeds in environments very different from their natural habitats. Many short-haired breeds, especially hairless dogs such as Mexican hairless and Chinese crested dogs, need to be wrapped up for winter because their bodies can't thermoregulate well enough. There's no denying a fashion statement can be made with doggie designer wear. You can buy flannelette shirts, denim jackets, fleece-lined coats, buoyancy vests, waterproof nylon jackets, polar fleece skivvies, raincoats, leatherette or suedette jackets, oilskin or faux-fur coats, PVC, camouflage, tartan or sequinned coats, even white satin with angel wings!
